For those who wish too or don't know how too, you can create your own personal gallery.
This can be used to display the images of interest and importance for you, You can have them shown to the public, have just your contacts or just private friends.


This is what you do

At the top of the page is a community section in the bar.click there and a list will appear.
Click Album
in that list

it will take you to this Screen.

when you get here
Click on create New Album on right of picture




This screen will appear

Add a name to the Title Box and then add information to the Description box, choose weather you want public, contacts or
private viewing,when finished press save.




Once saved this screen appears

Now you can add pictures to it.
To do this
First up load pictures by pressing the up load picture buttons at the top right of the screen




This is were your pictures will appear.

Then follow the instruction by going to the top right in the new box and press add file and then select file which enables you to add pictures to the the attachments.





When this is Done you Drag the selected picture of your choice to the bottom
section of the screen this will automatically take you straight to the screen below

You can then give you picture a title, once happy then you press save changes at the bottom left
and your album is created

Now you can click on picture and you will have it shown to everybody

I believe that makes him an 'Old Contemptible'?
I would like to know why he has a 3 prefix in his Regimental number? My thoughts are 3rd (Reserve) Battalion? Then posted to 1st Bn Hampshire Regiment?

I have the ship names for his crossing from/to Canada but have not been able to find a site to help me determine his crossing to France.

We know very little of him suffice to say he was in South Africa during the Boer War as well.
Can anyone here ID the cap badge for me so I can start some positive searching, no records seem to exist but if I had the regiment it would be a great place to start.

So, anyone up for a challenge??? Depending on the size of the memorial it could take anything from 6 months to two years to finish off your research ready for it to be published.

I wonder if anybody out there can help me with some research that I'm doing for a friend. I am looking at the service record of Conrad McLoughlin who joined the Manchester Regiment in 1914 (service no. 17428) as a private and embarked for France on 9th Nov 1915. At some point later, he transferred to the East Lancashire Regiment (service no. 33705), but I have no idea why this happened. Can anyone enlighten me?
He was in 20th battalion Manchester Regiment to start and I have a listing for this group dated 1914-1916 from the internet. It was a listing of officers and troops plus service numbers for a platoon photograph. Conrad stayed with the East Lancashires after WW1 and eventually retired in the early 1950's with the rank of Colonel.

We have a certifictate which congratulates him on behalf of the king for being mentioned in Sir Douglas Haig's dispatches on 7 November 1917. I have searched the dispatches on a website I found, but could find no mention in there, I think that is fairly normal as people were rarely named. I have also looked in the London Gazette archives but also cannot find him mentioned in the supplements for that date or any around it.

I am confused! Is there anything that I am missing that could explain this? We have such specific references that I felt sure I could find him and hoped to find out what he did to be awarded the medals.:confused:

His name was Alfred Carter, he was a Pte in RAMC. My Father and I have recently returned home after exploring the Ypres (Ieper) Salient area where we came across the grave of our close relative Serjeant Richard Hamblett, 2nd Battalion, The Manchester Regiment.

Serjeant Hamblett is buried at the Chester Farm Cemetery alongside Serjeant Tunnicliffe, Pvt. Michael Ryan and (I think) Pvt. William Burton all of whom were killed on April 23 1915.

Does anyone have any record/information as to how these men lost their lives?
